GFR Calculator (eGFR)
Estimate your Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) using the CKD-EPI 2021 formula to evaluate how well your kidneys are filtering blood.

| CKD Stage | GFR Level | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Stage 1 | 90+ | Normal or high kidney function |
| Stage 2 | 60 - 89 | Mildly decreased function |
| Stage 3a | 45 - 59 | Mild to moderately decreased |
| Stage 3b | 30 - 44 | Moderate to severely decreased |
| Stage 4 | 15 - 29 | Severely decreased function |
| Stage 5 | < 15 | Kidney failure (ESRD) |
What is GFR?
Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) is the best overall index of kidney function. Normal GFR varies according to age, sex, and body size, and declines with age.
This calculator uses the CKD-EPI 2021 formula, which is currently recommended by the National Kidney Foundation and American Society of Nephrology. It estimates GFR based on serum creatinine, age, and sex (it no longer includes a race multiplier).
