About Somatotypes

In the 1940s, psychologist William Sheldon introduced the concept of somatotypes, categorizing human physiques into three distinct types:

  • Ectomorphs: Naturally lean, fast metabolism, struggle to gain weight (both muscle and fat).
  • Mesomorphs: Naturally athletic, build muscle easily, lose fat relatively easily.
  • Endomorphs: Naturally broader, slower metabolism, gain weight (muscle and fat) easily, struggle to lose fat.

Note: Very few people are 100% one body type. Most of us are a combination (e.g., Ecto-Mesomorph). Your genetics influence your starting point, but your lifestyle, diet, and training determine your actual physique.
